Introduction

We all once thought of leaving the city, taking a long walk or drive, and ending up somewhere serene and quiet, where peace is prevalent and nature plentiful. Although not everyone has that opportunity, Cyprus, a small island, has many secluded villages where life is simple yet enjoyable.

However, not every village is to everyone’s liking. There are things to consider before you dive in and go live in a random town you Googled. These include distance from the city, local council, roads, parks, trails, schools, shops, and more. However, you can still visit that village for a day or a week!

What villages are the best to live or visit?

5. Pyrgos

A small village between mountains not far from the sea takes the 5th spot. Known for its calm presence, kindergarten, school, church, and neighbouring villages close by, it’s a nice place to live, especially for those with families.

4. Agios Tychonas

An attractive village outside Limassol, Agios Tychnoas is known for its villas and history. It is close to the ruins of Amathus, an ancient town. What makes Agios Tychnoas great, however, is that it’s located close to the sea and the coastline, where many restaurants, shops, and venues are located. In addition, driving further into Agios Tychonas presents impressive landscapes that can be viewed while riding a motorcycle, bicycle, or car!

3. Germasogeia

Situated near Limassol and Dasoudi Beach, Germasogeia is loved for its Nature, calmness, and location. It’s one of the better villages to live in as a family, which gives access to a newly constructed kindergarten, school, and gymnasium/lyceum. In addition, there are lots of shops nearby and access to a highway, which is only two minutes away.

2. Pedoulas

Located in the Troodos Mountains at an altitude of 1,100 metres, surrounded by lush forests and mountains, Pedoulas is a place to relax and enjoy the calmness away from people, heat, and stress. It is known for its 12 churches, the most important one being the Archangelos Michael church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1474!

1. Omodos

Moving along in Troodos, another village, takes the first place! Although the village is small and remote, it’s a great place to visit. Taverns, cobblestones, monasteries, and much wine make Omodos enjoyable. Omodos produces a lot of wine but has a wine festival every August, which you can visit! Apart from the wine, historic buildings, wine presses, and more, being in Troodos means visiting other places or just going for a walk and enjoying nature!
